Warehouse Newsletter Autumn/Winter 2024

The past year has been a busy time for our family, albeit a tough one. We have had several close relatives pass away, which has been tough, but God is good, and he has blessed us so much in other ways. We have new animals and experiences that bring us overwhelming joy in all seasons.

Homeschool:

Homeschool continues to prosper, the children are engaged in lots of different learning across the week from home based to community/prayer room based activities and groups.

Our Family has recently changed from using My Fathers World to using Gather Round Homeschool. (both curriculums we would highly recommend!)However over the summer months Mary and the Children felt very strongly that Mary should be spending more time in the prayer room. Meanwhile whilst Jim was away doing a Pedal and Pray section of the UK the Lord spoke to Jim also saying he was going to be sending Mary into the Prayer room more. So since the end of July we made these changes and Jim is now home educating the children whilst Mary is at the prayer room.

Some local home educators have also joined our children in starting a digital magazine project for school. They have completed their first spring issue closely followed by a Summer and Autumn issue and are working on their fourth Winter issue. If you would like to receive a copy of their free digital magazine school project, you can email: homeedkidsmag@outlook.com.  Esther has become a very enthusiastic editor of this magazine and she is really good at it! Joshua is regularly developing designs either inside the house with Lego or outside making ramps to jump with his bike. He has a wonderful ability to make things out of nothing which everyone loves! Zoe loves to take photographs and her incredible pictures are included throughout the magazine. She also entered the young photographer of the year competition recently with the RSPCA. Daniel is an avid reader and absolutely loves telling jokes! He is doing brilliantly in his school work and also loves helping Joshua build things. Apphia recently turned 7 years old and is very happy about it! She is loving reading and writing at school but especially loves math always ready to solve number problems! Amazing!

Pedal and Pray

Jim and the family at Lands End.

On the 23rd of April 2023  Jim started his prayer ride across the UK once more. He completed Lands’ End to John-O-Groats in 2022, and felt the Lord was calling him to ride down the east coast on his bike. Jim has a blog page for this journey so visit pedalandpray.co.uk to track Jim’s ride on the interactive map and read his daily blog posts. You can also find out more here. This ride is entirely by faith, so if you would like to donate or contribute, please get in touch, or head over to our support page. He has had some incredible encounters throughout the country. The family was blessed to be able to join him to ride at both Exmouth and Penzance, where they rode with Jim to Lands End, where he finished Pedal and Pray 2024! He even got a mention on UCB 1! Although Pedal and Pray 2024 is completed, Jim feels that the Lord still has more journeys for him to complete. So God willing, next year he will be doing another Pedal and Pray ride across Wales and then on the ferry across to Northern Ireland. If you want to know more, or ask Jim to speak about his journey and experiences at your house group, church, or ministry, please get in touch.

Farm Life

A family addition – delightful!

On the 27th of January 2024 we acquired a 12-week-old black Cocker Spaniel puppy named Silas. He has quickly become a much-loved member of the family and loves cuddles and playing on the beach and moors. He is most definitely Jim’s dog though!

The Girls have loved riding their horses on the beach at Crow Point recently, while the Boys have been enjoying riding their bikes on Exmoor with Josh and his cousin training to go to a big mounting bike park. The boys have also loved spending time on the quad bikes and dirt bikes we have acquired. On the topic of animals, we  butchered two lambs to make space for new birth in April.  Out of the six lambs we had we have sadly lost two due to weather conditions. Prayer over our farm and animals is always valued. We still have two pigs, although not for much longer, and our menagerie of chickens and ducks continues to thrive with Zoe having bred several chicks in the spring.

Earlier this year we also upgraded the farms water system so now our water is pressurized. We were also blessed by a full day of snow in late March when the children enjoyed skiing in the paddock.

We also now have self-catering accommodation on the farm, for friends and family, in the form of our static caravan ‘Makarios’. For more information about a working break on the farm, or having a holiday in Devon, click the button below.

Land

Last year we were blessed to be offered five acres of land in Muddiford village for rent which we continued to rent out this year. It gives us the extra capacity for lambing and land management as needed.

We continue to host an open house for our NDHOP community on the third Sunday of every month and have had a whole host of miracles and testimonies that are shared throughout these gatherings, as well as words of encouragement, and really blessed  times of worship.

Last summer whilst on holiday Esther, Joshua, and Zoe, were spontaneously baptized in Coniston lake, in Cumbria (Lake District) It was a beautiful day and a brilliant memory!

The Prayer Room

Mary, in her element, redecorating the prayer room!

The prayer room is beginning a new season after a renovation break during the summer. We now have new opening times and lots of other exciting things happening. The prayer room has also been focusing on catering for all ages, with children’s groups flourishing. Although our opening times are reduced we are busier than ever. Spending our time more focused and building in the community ad the Lord is leading us. We are also available to visit other churches to share what the Lord is doing and to serve by leading worship or preaching as desired. If you would like us to come and visit your church please get in touch. We also take teams on mission trips to serve other communities locally or internationally. If you would like us to visit please get in touch.

Jim, Mary and Family.

Ps we have started an informal unlisted website www.4acrefarm.co.uk to enable people to track with us more easily and for us to share stories of encouragement. If these stories/initiatives inspire or encourage you please tell others so they can be encouraged too.
