Warehouse Newsletter – Spring 2025

It’s been a busy start to 2025 at the Warehouse, with plenty going on both at the Prayer Room and at the Farm. As well as some new arrivals, including two orphan lambs, and some new sheep and chickens, we’ve been busy building and preparing areas to establish new features. We had a lovely quiet Easter, and after a busy week we went up above Woolacombe Beach and conducted our own not-really-sunrise service! (See image above)

Home School and Family

Home schooling is continuing to thrive, with Jim steering the schooling ship. The current school topic is Entrepreneurship, and the children have been learning how to set up kingdom-minded businesses – including North Devon Fire Bricks! Watch this space! – as well as hands on learning such as building different structures in the paddocks, to setting up a fruit cage, to clearing outbuildings to make way for planning permission. Joshua’s digger has also been in full use, as we have built a polytunnel, although the use of the incorrect fabric has made it more like a glorified windbreak, as the plastic refuses to let the heat in! We continue to meet with other home educating families at various points in the week, as well as spending lots of time in the prayer room, as the children are a large part of what we do there – Indeed we have begun a Youth-Led family worship night monthly, and have built up a very strong and passionate children’s worship team. If your family would like to come along, do check out the NDHOP website, and Facebook page to find out more about when these are.

We went away as a family at the beginning of March, to the Lake District for a little over a week. We had a wonderful time, and enjoyed climbing mountains and generally exploring! Of course we have continued to mountain bike, and keep up with our regular adventures too!

Esther has been enjoying worship leading at the prayer room, plenty of writing during home school, and walking over Dartmoor; Josh too has been enjoying walking, building and designing different aspects and structures on the farm, as well as using his Digger and Quad Bike to clear different outbuildings of rubbish, and bless neighbors with his help. Zoe is becoming very experienced with the Poultry, Sheep, and her young Pony Buddy, (see more below!) Daniel is particularly gifted at playing basketball, football, and other sports around the farm at the moment, and all the children have enjoyed practicing hitting golf-balls across the fields! Apphia is full of laughter and loves helping feed the lambs, as well as playing in the garden with her friends.

Hard at Work!

Farm and Animals

The farm is currently thriving, the grass is growing, and the animals flourishing! Our orphan lambs are certainly enjoying the fresh spring fodder! The horses are getting back into a rhythm of being ridden more regularly now the weather is improving, and Zoe in particular has been working hard consistently to train her young pony really well! Zoe has also recently rented some land in the nearby village, with the vision to increase the numbers of her flock, led by Psalm 144:13, “Our barns are full, filled with all kinds of provision. Our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields.” She currently has nine sheep with a ram set to come in around October time, and has been vigilantly checking on them and medicating them correctly. We trust that her work will be wholly repaid by the next crop of lambs come Spring! Zoe has also just been given another flock of chickens to increase the poultry pen numbers, and with several Hens and Ducks sitting on eggs that should hatch come May, so it looks like the season of plenty is just beginning!

Jim’s beehives (Yet another wonderful gift from God, hopefully soon to make a debut on this website!) are thriving, and have come out of winter very well, one Hive has begun supersedure (the process of growing a new Queen Bee to replace an old one) whilst the other has been split (the colony was so healthy that we were able to split the hive and make two separate colonies from them!) – hopefully successfully!

Healthy Colonies doing Well!

Silas, our spaniel, has been enjoying plenty of exercise at the moment, including long walks across the Moor, and training in the paddocks. We feel very blessed to have him, he truly is a gift from God!

And if you didn’t already know, we have accommodation at the Farm, available to missionary families, friends, and family, if you would like a working holiday on the farm, or just space in beautiful Devon (where it almost never rains!) to reconnect with God, then head over to our accommodation page.

Pedal and Pray 2025

Almost Ready to Begin Stage 3 of Pedal + Pray!

As many of you may know by now, Pedal and Pray began in 2022 as an act of obedience when the Lord asked Jim to ride his bike from Lands End to John O’Groats, up the west coast, praying over the land as he went. This was followed by another trip in 2024 this time from John O’Groats down the east coast. Over 4,000 kilometres later, Jim feels the Lord calling him to ride across Wales, and Ireland, in a move to cover the UK in prayer. Jim will be starting the first leg of Pedal and Pray 2025, on the 11th of May, cycling from Chepstow to Holyhead – a distance of 250 Miles in seven days. He will be stopping along the way wherever God calls him to, led by the Holy Spirit, and either staying with friends or connections, or camping out. Jim will also be posting daily blogs documenting his journey, and keep an eye on the NDHOP Facebook Page for video updates. If you would like to find out more, or support Jim on this entirely faith-powered journey see below.

Your prayers are very valued for Jim, his journey, and for Mary and the Children who will be at home running the farm whilst he’s away.
